Healthy Tasty Baked Chicken Wings

                         



Ingredients

  • 5 pounds whole chicken wings
  • 1 tsp salt - for heart friendly use less
  • 2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce - use combination of Sriracha Chilli sauce and Tapatio hot sauce for better taste
  • 4 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 4-6 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • non-stick canola oil spray
  • large mixing bowl
  • aluminum foil
  • sheet pans
  • 1 cup sauce (refer to sauce recipe)

Preparation
In the large mixing bowl add chicken wings, salt, pepper, hot sauce, garlic, green chillies, cumin powder and olive oil. Toss to coat evenly. Keep aside for 10-15 mins.
Add bread crumbs to a large ziploc bag. Pour in the chicken wings. Mix the wings thoroughly with the bread crumbs.
Cover baking sheets with aluminum foil and spray with canola oil. Place the chicken wings evenly on the pans. Lightly spray the tops of the wings with oil.
Preheat oven to 400 F. Bake the chicken wings for 30 mins. 
Remove from oven, turn over each wing and place back into oven for another 30 mins.
Make sure the wings are golden-brown and the coating is crispy.
Remove from oven, place into a mixing bowl, toss with 1 cup of sauce.
Let it stand for 5-10 minutes and enjoy.

Sauce 

Ingredients
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 3 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, optional
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar or agave
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Preparation
Add sauce ingredients to a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
